Rebates and Tax Credits

Congratulations on your decision to upgrade you home efficiency while making it a more comfortable and energy efficient space to live in for your family.  Fortunate for you , there are federal and state credits and local rebates available to help you with this investment.

If you are a GA Power client or live in the city of Atlanta there are extra incentives for you as well that can add up to $4,000 in rebates for home energy improvements.

Local Atlanta Rebates

GA Power Rebates

Since SawHorse is a certified BPI Contractor, you can get up to $2,000 by making the following Improvements with us:

  • Hiring SawHorse to complete a BPI energy assessment and get $200 back from GA Power.
  • If we reduce you energy consumption by 20% you will get a rebate of 50% of the cost up $1,250.
  • If we reduce you energy consumption by 25% you will get a rebate of 50% of the cost up $1,450.
  • If we reduce you energy consumption by 30% you will get a rebate of 50% of the cost up $1,850.
  • If we replace your thermostat you will get a rebate of $100
  • If we wrap you electric water heater, you will get a rebate of $50.

City of Atlanta Shine program rebates

As an Atlanta resident, and once you get the energy assessment from SawHorse, you are qualified to get an addition $2,000 (25% rebate of the cost of the work up to $2,000 as part of the pilot program) Improvement include, but not limited to:

  • Insulation Improvement
  • Whole house air sealing
  • Duct sealing
  • Replacement of doors and windows

North Georgia Water

If you live in GA you can get addition rebates for replacing toilets. $50 per toilet for 1.6 gallon per flush, however if you upgrade to a Water Sence toilet, you can get up to $100 per toilet. Max 2 per household. For more information on the program visit North Georgia Water

Federal Tax Credits

For basic improvements (not related to renewable energy)

You can get an addition $500 in federal tax credits. Note this is in addition to the rebates that you can get from GA Power and the City of Atlanta. This credit is good through the end of 2011.

Advanced Improvements (renewable energy)

You can get an additional 30% of the cost with no cap for the following systems that SawHorse can install for you. This credit is good through 2016.

  • Geothermal HVAC
  • Solar Hot Water
  • Solar Power
